International Statistical Poster Competition 2026–2027 combines statistical knowledge and creativity
The statistical poster competition is an inspiring way to study everyday phenomena using statistics. In the competition, you choose an interesting topic, analyze data, and prepare a clear and visual poster from your observations. This free competition is organized every other year and promises great prizes!
The competition has four categories. Elementary and lower secondary school students, upper secondary school students (general upper secondary school and vocational school) and students pursuing a lower university degree (university of applied sciences, university) can participate. Students compete in teams of 1-5 people. The poster can be written in Finnish, Swedish, or English. The registration period is until January 31, 2027.
The long registration period allows you to utilize the competition in both spring and autumn semester teaching. Statistical posters can be written, for example, as a method of teaching statistics, or combined in cooperation between different subjects in phenomenon-based teaching.
The Finnish winners will be announced in spring 2027, and the winning entries in each category will be sent to the international competition. The winner of the international competition will be announced at the World Statistical Congress (WSC2027) in South Korea in July 2027.
The Finnish competition is jointly organized by Statistics Finland, MAOL ry and the Finnish Statistical Society. The international competition is organized by the International Statistical Literacy Project (ISLP), which promotes statistical literacy.
