For the past few year, Finnish Statistical Society has supported the International Statistical Literacy Project (http://iase-web.org/islp/) which aims to advance statistical literacy across the globe. Statistical literacy is an essential skill in the modern world, and the International Statistical Literacy Project is especially interested in spreading knowledge of statistics and the necessary skills to be statistically literate to children and young adults living in developing countries.
During 2019 and 2020 we have received significant funding from several Finnish foundations in order to advance the goals of the project. Thanks to the financial support of Liikesivistysrahasto, Kansan sivistysrahasto, Palkansaajasäätiö, and Jenny ja Antti Wihurin rahasto, we have been able to hire a part-time employee to work on the project. With the support of these foundations the project will be able to significantly expand its scope and networks.
The Finnish Statistical Society extends its thanks to the funders for supporting statistical literacy!
