Finnish Young Statisticians Workshop November 20th

The Finnish Young Statisticians Workshop (FYSW2018) is a networking event for doctoral students. The event is organized by the Finnish Statistical Society in collaboration with the Finnish Society of Biostatistics and Aalto University School of Science.

The meeting provides an excellent opportunity for academically young statisticians to present their results and meet their peers. In this event all of the speakers are doctoral students from different Finnish Universities. All registered doctoral students are guaranteed the opportunity to speak in the workshop. Furthermore, this workshop is a fantastic environment to practice public speaking for future conferences.

Note that you are not required to have any prior publications or scientific results to attend this workshop. We encourage fresh doctoral students to present ideas or general outlines of your planned dissertation.

The workshop will be held in Espoo, Otaniemi on Tuesday 20th of November 2018. The presentations will be between 12:00 and 18:00 in the M3 hall of the Aalto University Undergraduate Centre (Otakaari 1).

The workshop is free of charge and everyone interested is welcome. After the presentations, there will be some social activity with some food and drinks provided for the attendees. The social activity will take place in the coffee room of the Department of Mathematics and Systems Analysis.

The registration to the workshop is done via email and the deadline is Tuesday 13.11. Send an email to niko.lietzen@aalto.fi and set “FYSW2018” as the subject of the email. We ask all attendees to register, even those not presenting, and give their current academic affiliation and position. Additionally, please specify if you will join the social activity, and if you do, any allergies or special diet requirements. The doctoral students who wish to give a presentation, please also state that in the registration email and provide a title for your presentation.
